Pit
bull shot while attacking police dog …or another words, pit bull shot while
protecting his territory because that’s what dogs do

A pit bull was shot Friday afternoon in southeast Fresno
when it attacked a K9 unit that was chasing a suspect, police said.
Police went to 1041 S. Archie Ave. about 3 p.m. to pick up a
subject wanted for domestic violence and other outstanding warrants when the K9
cop saw the suspect sitting in his car in the home's driveway, police said. The
suspect ran into a neighbor's backyard and the cop and his dog followed.
When they entered the backyard a pit bull jumped on the back
of the police dog and the cop had to kick it several times to get it off,
police said. The pit bull then charged the cop, forcing him to shoot the pit
bull once in the shoulder.
The pit bull ran into a house and its owners took it to a
pet hospital.
The suspect was arrested in another yard by another K9 unit.
