A Boston police officer shot a dog tonight in Dorchester, police said. David Estrada, a police spokesman, said the officer fired at the dog at about 7:40 p.m. in the area of 3 Beauford Lane.
He could not say whether the dog was killed or confirm its breed.
Estrada said he had no reports of any other injuries, or additional details about the incident.
Part of Beauford Lane, a tiny street of well-kept multifamily homes, was sealed off with police tape after the shooting, and several officers were standing in the middle of the road.
Officers also spoke to residents on the street in the sealed off area.
